Biography
PRE IDOL
Jordin Brianna Sparks was born and raised in Pheonix, Arizona with a passion for singing at an early age. Living with her mother, father and her younger brother - Jordin was raised as an Evangelical Christian with a strong belief in God. She wears a purity ring to signify purity.
Before appearing on American Idol, Jordin participated in various talent contests, one sticking out from the rest - NBC's America's Most Talented Kids. Although she didn't win, she continued to persue her talent and dream. Taking a different path, she was also one of the six winners of Pheonix Torrid search for the "Next Plus Size Model".
AMERICAN IDOL
It started out as a simple dream, a chance to make it big. She had originally auditioned for Arizona Idol, and to her surprise, she won the competition earning herself a "gold ticket" to the Hollywood round of the original Idol, American Idol. Idol judge Randy Jackson made an offhand predicition that, "Curly hair will win this year." That prediction became reality not too long after - with her "This is My Now" single hitting the charts, Jordin became an instant star. She became the youngest contestant to win the competition. Along with her victorious win, she performed twice during the seventh season, once on "Idol Gives Back" and once during a duet with Chris Brown for "No Air" and again with "One Step At a Time".
AFTER IDOL
With her Idol win came a big career ahead of Sparks as she entered a new stage of her life, Hollywood. Jordin's Idol performances soon went up on iTunes as well as a Jordin Sparks (EP) - a bundle collection of her songs - for sale. During this time, Jordin made several television appearances and also appeared on various magazines to promote her new single and upcoming debut album. It was a whirlwind experience, and it was just about to blow up even more.
It became public that Jordin was the first Idol winner to sign with 19 Records/Jive Records/Zomba Label Group. The album was set to be "top 40, radio-friendly, uplifting". "Tattoo", "No Air", and "One Step At a Time" became Jordin's first three singles - all chart topping. With this success, as well as "This is My Now", Jordin was the first Idol contestant to crack their first four singles on the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100.
She was outnumbered with the success of her debut album, which led to the follow up album, the 2009 release of Battlefield. The album is expected to have a higher profile and a better production than her first.
